Odile Bource - A Heart Conncetion

After lunch yesterday in Lizio we walked around the village.  It truely was a magical afternoon.  The village was so beautiful (flowers hanging off of every building and the old stone work) and the sun finally made it through the high clouds.
We came to an open door.  It looked like a little art gallery.  I went past at first - feeling a little shy to go inside.  My brave self decided to go back and in I went.  I was drawn by these three paintings on the wall.  It was the colors that drew me in - pinks, oranges, reds and yellows.
I was met by this woman - Odile Bource.  I liked her at once.  You know how some people you just connect with on a heart level and you don't know why.  That's how it was.  I liked her (Melena later said, "Mom, she could have been your friend").

Her english was better then my french - but not by much.  She told me about the picture she was painting and how she was born in Vannes on the coast, but was offered this studio space for inexpensive and so she is now artist in residence in Lizio.

She had some copies of prints.  I was looking to see if she had some of the images that I was drawn to.  She didn't.  I asked the price of the original.  It was way out of my ability to pay.  I told her this in my pidgin french.  She cut her price in half.
Of couse I bought it.  The painting is of her cat sitting on a book, surrounded by the most beautiful colors and flowers.  She told me how her cat had died this past April.  We both started crying.  Then we would look at each other and start laughing, then crying again.  It must have been a comical sight, hugging, kissing, crying, laughing and doing it all again.
It was hard for both of us to part - we kept holding each other.  Our hearts truely met.  She told me how she creates from her heart.  She kept telling me "It was a very good meeting" - I felt the same.  It was amazing.  Our hearts connected.  Hard to really describe in words.

So now I am bringing this painting home.
I am still smiling.

Lunch in Lizio, France

The drive from our house to Lizio.  So beautiful.  It is all farm land.  Cows everywhere.  (I am a little jet-lagged still and I am having a hard time writing so, you get the "see spot run" version).
In the town of Lizio.  Every thing looks like this - amazing.
Matt at lunch.  Keenan took this picture - he did well.  We all had crepes and salad.
The restaurant.  That is me wearing the pink shirt sitting at the outdoor table.
We sat next to a young family from the South of France.  They helped us translate the menu.
Cute little spot to stay.
Aren't we so cute?

I have a bunch more photos, but I keep loosing them after I load them.  I have an amazing story to tell when I can get the other photos up.
Until then Au Revoir

La Ville au Tady

We are staying in an old farm house that was built in 1868 in the village of Tady.  The village has only four other houses.  The property has a huge yard which Keenan has already claimed as his personal soccer field.
There is so much history here. Up the lane from our house is a 12th century church.  Just touching the stones of the church I think about all the people who have come before me - they all had intimate details and richness to their lives. It stretches and bends the mind.

Keenan's new soccer ball.  This is what he does much of the day at the house.  "Somebody shoot on me!

Until next time.  I am having trouble posting photos and getting on the internet so the posts may come sporatic.
Until next time.

First Daze

After 12 hours of flying and waiting in airports, 1 hour stuck in Paris traffic, 3 hours of driving northwest and five minutes (the longest) in a torrential-near-death rainstorm, we arrived at Ecologia near Laval France.
Matt taking a power nap, before bedtime.
We stayed in an amazing yurt.  Breakfast arrived in a basket full of fresh baked bread, crossants, jam, butter, chocolate, fruit and tea.
Melena and Keenan playing on the ipad.
Archery lessions the next morning - although Melena didn't need lessons.  She hits the bullseye most every shot.  Look at that fine form.
Keenan and I took a walk the first night trying to stay awake.
Here we are in Josselin having a look around a medival castle.

It is raining today - our fourth day.  We all slept in until 11am.  Not quite on local time yet.  Our plan is to play games and sit around the fireplace, and eventually make our way out of doors to the local cafe for tea and desserts.

Next Stop Paris!

It's 5am, hard to write creatively... in 12 plus hours we will touch down in Paris.  Then stumble, crawl, drag our luggage through Charles De Gaulle airport and make our way to this magical quintessential french home - YIPEEE!!
